Well lets clear out some cob webs....it has been a bit since I last posted. But here I am! Done with my first semester of nursing school. Graduated with an 88% not bad for barely touching the book and never getting more than 4 hours straight of sleep in a night.
Soooo...onto my second semester! But this week break I am going to celebrate by spending time with James, sleeping in, and simply enjoying life together without school to get in the way!
Little buddy is doing better the past few days, sleeping 4 hours by himself the first stretch of the night (boy I hope I haven't jinxed it!) And....he has began rolling over he is 5 1/2 months old. Yesterday my mom left him on his tummy and she came back to him on his back. This morning I had him in bed with me was putting him on his back when he flopped over onto his tummy lol silly goose!
Yes, he still sleeps with us. He is on a reverse feeding schedule because he prefers the breast. He goes longer stretches during the daytime but at night it is an all night breast buffet. We have started feeding him baby food on a somewhat regular schedule. And he is beginning to get the hang of it. It might be why he has began sleeping a bit better lately! Allergies are also kicking his butt though poor buddy!
Matthew will also sit up for a while by himself, you just have to have cushions for him to tumble on to or be there to catch him as he falls. And he has been giggling on a regular basis, lots of strides these past few days!
Thoughts....what do you think about extended breastfeeding, letting the child choose when they are ready to wean. Does it make you feel uncomfortable? Do you wish you could have? Or are you on the fence?
I love breast feeding, and am a very strong advocate for it! But the thought of a 3 year of breast feeding is a bit much for me. I was breastfed for a year and a half-ish. I am comfortable with that, but being as we wouldnt mind starting ttc somewhat soon, and breast feeding appears to be keeping my period at bay...It is a hard choice! Maybe Matthew will choose to be done himself around a year. And maybe one day James and I will both get to sleep in bed, all night long, uninterupted! ;-)
Anyways, I hope all is well with everyone...and will leave you with photos of little buddy!

Great update Jess, I'm glad breastfeeding is going so well for you and Matthew!!! He is such a cutie pie!!
ReplyDeleteI hope you enjoy your Mother's Day!!!
