Little Bit About Me

My photo
First and foremost, I am a Christian woman: I love Jesus! In this blog you will find stories of trying to conceive with PCOS, MTHFR, Poor egg quality, a unicornuate uteterus, and too many babies in heaven. It is a good thing God is the ultimate healer! Here you will find praise! and you may also find venting (I'm not perfect...) and you will find other stories of my crazy life. All the while through this journey I am holding on to scripture & hoping to one day be a mother here on Earth (waiting on God & His perfect timing...why am I so impatient?) But in the meantime, here you will find me: Jessica, loving wife, hopeful heart of a mother, and faithful friend.

CAUTION

All writing in this blog is unedited and 100% from what I am feeling at the time. By continuing to read it means that you will take my vents with a grain of salt. You will choose to not take offense. And most of all, if you know me in real life you will either choose to stop reading or keep the knowledge of this blog quiet, and privately allow me to know you are reading. I only share this information with close friends. I do not share this with facebook for a purpose: it is meant to be semi-private. Not "public" knowledge in the sense of the majority of those in real life knowing about it. If you can accept all that has been stated, sit back, grab a box of tissues, and be prepared to endure the rocky road of trying to conceive while trying to get out of the shadows of infertility.

Not the news I wanted to hear.

Well, they couldn't rule out ectopic pregnancy because nothing was visible in my uterus. At all. So the doctor gave me 3 options.

1) wait it out and track my hcg, but warned this was riskiest choice because he didn't want me to chance losing my tube.

2) have a d&c, and if they didnt find anything have the mtx shot. Just the d&c alone would put me under general anesthetic and cause me to pump 12-24 hours. Add to it the shot if they couldn't find anything? On top of the issues I know you can get from having d & c? Mmmm...not my choice.

3) have the shot and get hcg checked 4 days out, and then again at 7 days out. If the hcg doesn't drop 15% get another shot. With no breastfeeding 48-72 hours after the mtx shot.

I chose #3. And am now getting one this afternoon. At the infusion center. Because it is a cancer drug. Yippy Skippy.

For those of you that had this shot before what did you Dr tell you for TTC? To wait 1-3 cycles? I am sure I will get information from the lovely nurse but just curious.

  1. I had the shot for my ectopic in September. They couldn't see anything on u/s machine because my levels were only 800. I went with the decision to have the Methotrexate shot. I personally was not told by my RE to wait for a few months to start trying again, but have heard many people that were. I believe I ended up getting pregnant a few months later.

  2. That sounds like the right choice. I'm so sorry you have to go through this. :-( I have not personally had the shot, but I believe they like you to wait a few months. I am thinking of you!!
