Little Bit About Me

My photo
First and foremost, I am a Christian woman: I love Jesus! In this blog you will find stories of trying to conceive with PCOS, MTHFR, Poor egg quality, a unicornuate uteterus, and too many babies in heaven. It is a good thing God is the ultimate healer! Here you will find praise! and you may also find venting (I'm not perfect...) and you will find other stories of my crazy life. All the while through this journey I am holding on to scripture & hoping to one day be a mother here on Earth (waiting on God & His perfect timing...why am I so impatient?) But in the meantime, here you will find me: Jessica, loving wife, hopeful heart of a mother, and faithful friend.

All writing in this blog is unedited and 100% from what I am feeling at the time. By continuing to read it means that you will take my vents with a grain of salt. You will choose to not take offense. And most of all, if you know me in real life you will either choose to stop reading or keep the knowledge of this blog quiet, and privately allow me to know you are reading. I only share this information with close friends. I do not share this with facebook for a purpose: it is meant to be semi-private. Not "public" knowledge in the sense of the majority of those in real life knowing about it. If you can accept all that has been stated, sit back, grab a box of tissues, and be prepared to endure the rocky road of trying to conceive while trying to get out of the shadows of infertility.

Finally a Vacation Post

I am on my phone so this post may be a little on the short side...unless I find myself filled with too many thoughts!

Our vacation was wonderful. We took the drive, adjusting the air conditioning according to my hot flashes. Stopping twice, once to potty, and once to stop at a scenic rest area.

The conversation was wonderful. We didn't fight once. We enjoyed each other. We did lack on prayer, but it was more than what has been between us lately.

We weren't too impressed by most of the places we ate at, or the hotel for that matter. For food in Mackinaw City there isn't an Applebees Logan's Roadhouse, or Red Robin. There are places like Dixie Saloon and O'Rielly's. Which incidentally are owned by the same people and have the same menus, only the appetizers have different names. Either way I was equally unimpressed by both.

The hotel, the two good things were the cost and the nice jacuzzi tub in our room. Not so nice? The slider to the beach didn't have a screen door. The shower leaked from the ceiling, I invisioned the floor falling down on me, "Tragic accident at Bridge Vista Hotel...traveler died in the shower when the ceiling, broken down by a leaking pipe, collapsed on her." Not joking. These are things I think of.

We visited the Forts (my favorite parts!), the light house, the ice breaker Mackinac ship museum (pretty cool). And of course made the ferry ride over to the island. We rode the Shepler Ferry that went right under the bridge before heading over to the island.

We rented bikes. Good thing you don't forget how to ride a bike because after 6 years of not stepping on a bike...I was pretty rusty. And did I mention out of shape, mixed with hills = one panting Jessica. =)

We had a blast. We shared some good laughs. Especially over the fat kid that WASN'T a midget. Curious? I will set the scene. The hotel had a small "water park" that was in a glass room. A perfect view from the parking lot. A perfect people watching spot. James and I sat in the car eating ice cream cones. When right in front of us this fat little boy decides to play near the rope jungle gym...like the bars you swing across at the park. After a few giggles about how cute he was (and James protesting because that was him when he was little...) I asked the question, Decision time...what do you think he will do fall in, or not go for it? As soon as the question left my lips, the boy disappeared from view. We got our answer...he gave up.

Right? Or did he? As I took another lick from my ice cream cone I see chunky monkey run and jump, trying to grab at the ropes above. Only to flail (quite ungracefully) into the water below. It was HILARIOUS in itself. Until James said, Jess I think he was a midget. You are laughing at a midget. (Please forgive the politically incorrect phrase!). This ensued me laughing until I couldn't breath and was crying. I kindly let him know if it was a grown up little man, he deserved to be laughed at because he was an idiot. I would expect a kid to do something that ridiculous...but not someone with age on their side. It gave us a good chuckle the rest of the trip. With either of us saying "He was/wasn't a midget." to each other.

Oh boy, I hope it made you at the very least smile. Because I almost peed my pants from laughter.

Anyways, Friday we got home...shared a good evening with Jenny and Matt. Saturday we headed to the zoo, and I was pretty excited! I LOVE the zoo. But, James was a little under the weather. We hurried through, but had a good time even doing so, and headed to the urgent care.

He has supposed bronchitis according to first diagnosis. Treatment wasn't helping fever. Which spikes up to 103 when we miss medicine. Our family doctor said he thinks it is viral, but too a chest xray to rule out pneumonia or some crazy thing caused by working near chickens. We haven't officially gotten the news from xray, but assuming no news is good news. =)

James and I are looking forward to more vacations together. On our list is Chicago, the UP, Washington DC, Alaska (ugh), and some place tropical. I have decided with a heavy heart that if we have to be childless at this moment in time we might as well enjoy life together. Even if places like the zoo and Mackinac are filled with happy little families with children we wish we had ourselves....

In spite of my baby crazed wishes, hot flashes, and now sickness our vacation was wonderful and I can't wait to do it again. Oh and did I mention CD 12 and my opk has a thick light line, I am getting closer to baby making time! =) Please God let this month work!

  1. Sounds like you had a great time! Yes, I laughed about the fat little kid...or man... or whoever. :) For our Honeymoon, DH and I took Oliver to Chicago. We took turns wearing him in a wrap and a backpack carrier and walked everywhere. We ended up going to the Sears Tower, the Art institute, and the aquarium. We only spent one day, but we had a blast! Just an FYI for if you still wanna travel with a lil one. :)

  2. :-) I know traveling with a little one is possible, I have just decided I have to be content with just the two of us. Even if I still dream and surf the babysrus website in hopes of having to do a registry at some point in the near future, LOL

  3. Sounds like a great vacation, I thought about taking a vacation to Mackinaw but have not made it that far north yet. Giggled about the kid(?) and the pool.

  4. :-) It was wonderful, I will post more pictures later this week! The mysterious kid still makes me laugh to think about. James still looks at me and says He was a midget.
